What is literature ?

Literature is a term that is not fixed. It is rather predetermined by a literary doctrine that you belong to, men of letters poets, novelists, playwrights(dramatists), and critics.

If you analyse, you are among the critics, so you are a man of letters, then you should be equipped.

Literature started as orality from mouth to ear until it was recorded and written, but speculations were uttered to justify orality.

The American Robert Frost said, “good literature should disturb the reader’s mind”.

Good as adjective expresses the value of judgment but who judges a literature to be a good or a bad one? Robert Frost means by good, a literature that annoys the reader. When you read then you stop, you begin to reflect on, assess, pose questions; why am I before this entity that does not obey to the norms?  Because language has levels of analysis: lexical level, semantic level and morpho-syntactic level.

When you read a literary text, you are annoyed some alien words that can be found in a dictionary under different meanings.
