Reading Comprehension and Text Analysis


This module aims at helping students strengthen their ability to read, understand, and analyze different types of English texts. RC mainly focuses on developing strategies for effective reading (skimming, scanning, predicting, inferring... etc.) Then, identifying main ideas, supporting details, and text structures. In addition to interpreting and comparing viewpoints in academic and non-academic texts. Finally, building vocabulary and improving critical reading skills.

By the end of the course, students will be able to approach written texts with greater confidence, accuracy, and independence, preparing them for more advanced modules such as phonology, writing, and literature.

This course is for L2 students. It concerns American Civilization. The following topics will be discussed:

The American Revolution

The American Constitution

The Westward Expansion

The American Civil War

The American Government

Political Parties


Oral expression is a space for students to share, express and discuss their thoughts openly. 

For the second semester, students will present their chosen topics using visual aids. PowerPoint presentations are very useful, as they allow students to organise their ideas and present them concisely and pertinently.
