Introduction
What is Philosophy?
Philosophy is a Greek term, which means love of wisdom.
Unlike science, art and religion, philosophy asks fundamental and challenging questions about life, knowledge and values. For instance, what is the meaning of life? what is reason? what is experiment? what is the aim of science? what is beauty? WHAT IS MORALITY? what the terms of justice, freedom, equality, state, and democracy refer to? What should people prioritize; freedom or equality? What should be the role of the state in a democracy?
Hence, QUESTIONING is the vehicule of philosophy. Through puzzling questions, philosophy attempts to approach different matters, its purpose is to shake the human intellect in order to review the inherited opinions and convictions, by means of a critical and analytical examination of their foundations. However, in its endeavor to understand mankind existence, knowledge and morality, philosophy does not provide definite answers.
Bear in mind that the questions in philosophy are most important than the answers, as Karl Jaspers said.
